Going with the flow
Rhythm is a series of beats or a tempo that creates balance and order, whether in music, dancing, or fine art. Repeating visual elements add a sense of rhythm to an artwork, creating a sense of flow or movement that holds the whole piece together. When echoed throughout a whole composition, these repeated elements form a pattern — a kind of visual harmony. These patterns can be composed of shapes, colors, or lines. Rhythm can be found in the most simple, measured patterns, as well as the most complex, dynamic ones.
